Testing, Diagnostics, Ultrasound, and Radiography
Our pets can’t always tell us when something is wrong. In fact, you often won’t know something is amiss until the issue has become major. Through our suite of diagnostics testing, in-house lab, and imaging equipment, we can help give your pet a voice.
The best way to avoid an unseen issue is having recurring wellness exams and bloodwork checkups annually. We can often catch issues before they become painful or uncomfortable for your pet. It is important to us to find the issue quickly and find a solution as soon as possible.
The Need for Diagnostics
Diagnostics help us see what lies beneath the surface. This can be helpful for overall wellness checks, if a pet ingested something they shouldn’t, or is having an allergic reaction to something you can’t see. We can run blood tests and stool sampling, and check for skin conditions in the hospital.
The Power of Ultrasound & Radiology
Radiology is a broad umbrella term that covers both ultrasound and X-rays. When our team doesn’t know what’s going on with your pet, they might use ultrasound. On the other hand, when your pet shows clear injury or pain, we use X-rays to look for broken bones, arthritis, foreign items in the digestive tract, and other possible concerns. X-rays paint a much clearer picture of your pet, which might be needed when we need to pinpoint an issue, but it uses a different process than ultrasound.
At Jenison Animal Hospital, we offer state-of-the-art ultrasound checks for your pet. It is a great, non-invasive way to map your pet’s body in real-time. Has your pet experienced weight loss? Persistent diarrhea or vomiting? Perhaps you’re worried about a pet pregnancy or abnormal urinary habits? Ultrasounds can answer these questions and many more over the course of your pet’s life.
In-House Pharmacy
Finally, if your pet needs medication, we have an in-house pharmacy to minimize stops. Most of all, we can find out how your pet needs help to get them the best care, so you don’t have to try and figure it out alone.
