Unexpected Sickness

Sometimes our pets get sick fast, and without warning, and they might need to be seen quickly to fix what’s making them sick. Let our team help!

Signs of Illness in Pets

  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Excessive coughing
  • Excessive sneezing
  • Limping
  • Preferred limbs
  • Behavior is off

For cats in particular:

  • Blood in urine
  • Dropping outside the litter box
  • Howling
  • Excessive drooling

This is not an exhaustive list, and your pet might exhibit other changes in lifestyle or personality to indicate they are sick.

You know your pet better than anyone else. If you think your pet is sick, don’t wait until your wellness check to give us a call, especially if you’re already part of the Jenison Animal Hospital family. We will try and get your pet in to see your veterinarian within 24 hours of your call. If we do not pick up, please leave a voicemail and we will call you back and make you a priority.

Emergencies

In the event of a pet emergency, it is a good idea to always have a backup plan to get your pet to an emergency vet if we can’t see you. We recommend the Animal Emergency Hospitals and BluePearl Pet Hospital Emergency. Both hospitals have specialists in-house, and are highly recommended.

If we have availability, we will also see walk-ins for current clients in the event of an emergency for an additional fee. We try to be transparent with costs throughout the process, and will provide estimates as we move through the process. We offer Care Credit and other payment options when it comes to unexpected sick visits.
