Is your pet going on vacation? Jenison Animal Hospital can help!

Pets often need paperwork for travel. While we don’t have information on every state and country concerning regulations, our team does know how to work with you to help you get the needed information.

What We Need from You

  • Where you’re going: the address you’re traveling to, airline you’re using, and any important information concerning layovers.
  • A list of airline rules and expectations
  • A list of country rules and expectations (when applicable)
  • A list of state rules and expectations (when applicable)
  • A checklist of what will happen each step of your travel journey

As soon as you know your pet is going on a trip, call us with as much information you can collect so we can gather the needed documents ahead of time.

The Travel Process

A jet-setting pet needs more than just their glowing disposition to get through security. We will schedule an appointment with your veterinarian 3–5 days before the flight to verify information, do a full breakdown on expectations from the state or country you’ll be traveling to, and verify all vaccinations and health regulations are in place based on the information you’ve collected. Since laws and rules change from state to state, this process is done on an individual basis, and these meetings can take up to an hour to perform.

If needed, we also provide vaccinations and checkups to get your pet in traveling shape.

USDA APHIS has all the state and federal requirements for United States travel, and is always updated with all the information needed when traveling within the states. It does not provide airline requirements, so it is important to look up or get in contact with your airline for their regulations and expectations.

We can walk you through details so you are properly prepared for your journey. The more you are prepared, the easier the trip will be!
